Is anybody out there?

* * *

Ok, I’m back. Sort of. RL has been too demanding recently and I really needed to be offline more time. Anyway it’s time to write here again, not only leaving comments at people’s LJs.

I’ve been looking for a new job at museums and art galleries, but so far nobody seemed interested in my working experience. Too bad for them *g*. I also decided to apply again to a government position. Government jobs aren’t the most exciting thing, they’re not a childhood dream, but they’re better paid then many other jobs down here. There’s another interesting factor: government hardly fires its employees, one must do something really bad (being caught stealing, getting favors or money from citizens in order to do his/her work faster, things like these) to be fired – which means you can work at same position until your retirement. Problem is, many people want those positions and there aren’t many available jobs, so there are always tests to them. For better positions sometimes there are 20,000 desperate people (or more) applying for just one position. What does that mean? I’ll have to study *very* hard if I want to pass on one of those tests, using all my free time to study (which also means I’d have to reduce drastically my online hours). In fact I’d already know what I’ll do, but it’s hard to accept it. I’m 33, still living with my parents (not a problem, but I’d like to have my own apartment), my salary is never enough and I can be fired if museum directors decided so. It’s hard to be an adult...

I’ve been trying to be a better daughter/granddaughter/niece/friend/whatever too, spending more time with people from real life. I can’t spend all my free time in front of computer, can I? So I’ve phoning to friends, visiting my old aunts, watching silly action movies with my father, etc. I’m even sleeping earlier, almost at same time my parents do – not today, of course...

In case somebody wants a taste of Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka or newest Harry Potter movie I’m sharing two links (thanks to penalty and o_chan: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire trailers are here. There’s also this link to Corpse Bride trailer (and this one where Tim Burton explains more about this movie).

Oh yes, this Harry Potter thing. I never read those books, I didn’t watch the movies until they were on VHS. But recently I developed a serious interest for Harry/Lucius fics. And I feel very ashamed for that. Some time ago I was bored, searching for bondage fics or something similar at Yahoo, and some HP ones popped up. HP was such a child thing for me that I thought it was rather bizarre and decided to give them a try. Well, some of them were brilliant, very well written, but soooo wrong, I felt really depraved reading them, it was underage sex! Ok, I went back to Oz world, much more comfortable (?) and less scary (???), but some time later I wanted to read one of those stories again. I found it and many others, this Harry/Lucius thing seems to be very popular out there and most stories I’ve read so far are amazing, their authors are brilliant – I mean, how do they manage to make the subject appealing and not so dirty enough to keep me reading until stories’ end? How do they write about male pregnancy and non-con relationships as if it was not a hard thing? Those guys really know how to catch someone’s attention, that’s it.
Anyway every time I finish one of them I feel the need to wash my eyes and brain with soap, I shouldn’t be *picturing* teenagers sucking so eargerly older, hot and sexy guys, but I’ve been doing that. A lot. Not to mention picturing other things teens do with older guys too. Probably because Lucius Malfoy, that lovely Jason Isaacs person, is evil, arrogant and smoking hot... yes, I love my celluloid men this way, Keller and Lionel Luthor are proof of that *g*
Isaacs also reminds me of Chris Meloni in many ways: they’re tall, they’re both married with same women for a long time, they both have young daughters, they’re both over 40 y.o., and both of them have blue eyes.

How funny! I was originally attracted to Chris Meloni because he reminded me of Jason Isaacs. A friend of mine in the HP fandom used to dream of a Harry Potter/Oz crossover, set in Azkaban (the wizard prison) when all the batshit deatheaters were serving life sentences. Working title: AZ. Oh, it would've been brilliant... especially since the last book put Lucius in Azkaban.

Waah! Poor Lucius was sent upriver in the last book, Order of the Phoenix. But we figure he'll break out by the next, The Half-Blood Prince. Until then... you just know our poor blond boy is gonna make some Schillingeresque prisoner a very happy man.

Oh my. You hit on a big weakness of mine. Lucius Malfoy is way sexy. But I go more for Lucius Malfoy/Severus Snape/Sirius Black/Remus Lupin or any combination thereof. My husband laughs at me because I have to go see every Harry Potter movie, then I complain because there's always so many kids in the theater. He tells me, duh, it's a kid movie, but I disagree!

Really, Maddie, all of them at same time? LOL
I see your point about kids and movies, that's why I tend to wait a little to watch them at home. Much calmer this way *g*

LOL! Yes, all at once *would* be something, wouldn't it? Most recently, I've been reading some Snape/Malfoy, and a couple of Black/Lupin fics. Nice! But any combination is fine with me.

What type of work do you do? And do you know this lj community: museumpeople? I came across it the other day and joined as I volunteer every other Sunday at the J. Paul Getty Museum, and have been doing so for almost seven years now. I haven't gotten around yet to asking whether there are any other Getty people in the community, but I will soon. :-)

I didn't hear about it before but seems to be an interesting idea. I'm the only employee of my museum (it's a very small one, focused on Medicine history at Brazil), and basically I do collection management (research, cataloguing, exhibition changes, etc. - I'm not into ristoration, although my boss would be delighted if I could do that too, it'd mean saving money, I'd have to do that too instead of paying for professionals doing that!!). In fact I'd love to work with research and cataloguing only, I think these things are the ones I do best, but so far I'm open to any nice changes in scenario *g*
