Are we there yet?

Photobucket

Can we just go sleep and wake up at 2012? I'm bored, still at office, with tons of things to be done but not in the mood. There are few people here today, we're going to leave soon but even so... I think the best part of this end of year are going to be the fireworks. Are you excited with the celebration?

Anyway I shouldn't be complaining, nice things happened to me this year and in fact being bored at office isn't that common anymore since I'm finally working where I wanted to be and it's a blessing most part of time, but that's a subject for another post... ;)

I've never been big on New Year celebrations. It's just another day of another year. Time passes, you move on. It's not like all our problems magically disappear on January 1st. (If only!) Having said that, I'm already dreading Monday.

I spent the night traveling from South Dalmatia (7 loooong hours). Bus rides aren't as enjoyable as they were when I was a student, I'm afraid. (Is my age finally showing??) I had one bout of beauty sleep already, I'm contemplating another. I still plan to see a movie or two before clock strikes twelve though - that's a New Year tradition I try to maintain no matter what.

Finally: I hope 2012 surpasses your expectations! In a good way, of course. :-)

Ugh, tell me about it.. I may not be aware or even look my age, but things like this remind me of it every now and then. (In fact, when I went to buy the ticket, I was asked to show my Student Identity Card so I could have student's discount. When this happens, I always feel obliged to let people know just how old I am. It's like defense reflex.)

The trip was excruciating and uncomfortable in several ways: legs turned out to be the most demanding part of my body in terms of space (and with my 163cm "midget" height, I don't even have long legs!) - no matter which way I turned, how far underneath the seat in front of me I stretched them, they hurt...and then the pain went to my lower back. And so I couldn't sleep. On top of that, each time I tried to find a more comfortable position, I'd elbow or kick the guy sitting next to me, which must have gotten pretty annoying after a while. He was most understanding though.

When I traveled home as a student, it was always by bus. It would take 7 hours as well, but it was never this torturous. So yeah, I'm definitely 33 - thank you, new highway, for reminding me of that.

I actually bought a half bottle of very good champagne to ring in the New Year, but then decided at 11:00 p.m. last night to have an early night instead. Now it's 7:00 a.m., New Year's Day, and I'm thinking of getting dressed and walking across the street to buy orange juice at the market so I can make mimosas with the champagne. :-)

Good idea!!! I mean, I'm not used to drink but it seems to be a good way to celebrate 2012!
