It took an entire day but finally I know where I'll be living and working for the next 3 years at least. Ladies and gentlemen, rejoice! I'll move to Brasília, my country's capital and a wonderful city (more info [in English] here, here, here and here). I think I won't be able to sleep tonight, I'm too much excited for that!!! See, all those historical cities would have been great but me and my parents were discussing about moving with my grandmother, how things should be easier and more comfortable for her. Of course it'll be much easier to live with her in a modern house or apartment than in an historical one, where probably we wouldn't have a big bedroom with private bathroom for her as we need now. Things will be much better at Brasília, we've relatives there, it has lots of good hospitals, theaters, restaurants, a big airport - it takes about 1h 40 min from here to there, and travelling by car with my grandma isn't an option, she goes to bathroom frequently and there's also the comfort element to think. Whatever, I'm ecstatic and more than ready to move, they just have to tell me where I have to sign my name, lol

I'm so glad for you! I haven't commented before, but it's been really interesting hearing about how things operate in another country and all that's been involved in this transfer. Beautiful pictures - thanks for sharing!

Girl, it takes time, lol - I'm waiting for these news since last December, but now I'm in peace. Relatively, of course, but at least I know where I'll be and it won't take much more time, maybe one month or even less.

Congratulations! Brasília looks like a gorgeous city. I love the by night picture. I adore nightime city skylines.

It's a lovely city - see, many people down here don't like it but it's not my case, since my first visit I liked it a lot. Of course I'll miss my city, I was born here and so on, Brasília doesn't have sea around it (I'm not a beach person but I'm used to be around sea) but I'm quite sure I'll love living there!

You're right, this city was well planned and designed - and in the beginning people didn't like to live there, it was too different from regular cities. There are blocks of schools, of hotels, of hospitals, of malls, of banks, etc... which is pretty different from other "normal" Brazilian cities, when things aren't too divided. Anyway, city's organization hadn't changed but now it has a soul, there are generations of people who had been born there and they're comfortable with their hometown - a curious fact: people from there don't have a distinctive accent, just like at other parts of country. It happens because many Brazilians moved to there along the years, mixing their accents and kind of losing them at same time, so you can't identify a Brasília native just by listening to his/her way of speaking! ;o)

Eh, I'm always looking for a good excuse. Hee.
But seriously, I'm happy for you! Just stopped by to wish you good luck and congratulate! Lucky lucky girl!

See, the problem with being born and bred in the country's capital is that I can't move to the country's capital. I gotta go abroad, dammit!! :)

I'm dead and gone to heaven, Ana, I just can't wait to move... wait, moving won't be so cool, there'll be tons of things to do before, during and after that, including finding those damn things that just disappear in this kind of occasion, lol

Hey, Brasília! That's great news! I've never actually been there, though I have family there. One of these days I'll have to visit them.

I'm really happy for you, Adri, and hope the move goes well. When are you leaving? Any chance we can get together before that? I know Roberta has deserted us, but I'll still here. ;)

Congratulations, my dear! How great. I was thinking, one of these days, how would it be with your grandmother since she's living with you and your parents. Brasília is a good place to take her.

Imagine, I have seen so many photos and documentaries about Brasília and I had never seen there's a river
running by the city. I have to thank you for that photo.

When are you going to know where exactly you'll be working?

Seekrit message : got your parcel. You're an angel. Mail follows.

Luci, there are two rivers near Brasília, Preto and Descoberto, and there's also Lake Paranoá, but everybody knows thry don't change the fact that's a city with not too much air humidity. Not a problem for me, though, I can deal with that using my fabulous skin care products, lol
And in fact I already know where I'll work - not in a museum but dealing with administrative papers, which I think it's a nice change too. I have an idea where my office will be, I looked for it at IPHAN site and I vaguely remember the location of its building there.
And I'd read - and answered - your message, *g*
