o_chan and msdaccxx, that's for you: The Libertines are down here! And you know what? I just discovered it yesterday!!! There'll be two shows, tomorrow and Monday, and it seems people are pretty excited about them. Sunday's show is sold out since October 13rd, can you believe that? Well, I'll look for more info and photos to you, ok?

Oh, do! I had no idea they were playing in Brazil. These may be amongst their last ever live shows as Carl and Pete continue to be estanged and Carl is pulling the band off the road at the end of the year for health reasons. If they don't reconcile, then that's it for The Libertines. What a magnificent car-crash of a band they are, bless them. And so pretty and tragic and slashy. My God, they were in the US these past weeks (well, not Pete obviously, but all the others) and in France yesterday and now Brazil.

i have never seen The Libs (though i will see Pete's other band Babyshambles next month) but i would kill to do so. It's like how I never got to see The Smiths last ever irish show because I was only 13 and my mother wouldn't let me. i've seen Morrissey solo many times, but The Smiths? I really wish I'd seen The Smiths.

I would be so grateful for any press reports about The Libs from Brazil, though translations would be necessary, my Portuguese not being all it could be *g*

I read they're going to stop a little after this week's shows, but I'll look for more info to send you. Don't worry about translation, I'll find a way to make you understand everything, LOL
I *so* understand your feelings about The Smiths!! It happened a lot with me and my mother. I know she was doing her job, keeping me away from confusion, but I miss a lot all those shows I couldn't see when I was so young... *sigh*

The killer was that in our house the age at which you could go to gigs was 14. 14!!!! I tried to explain about The Smiths but she wasn't having it. She understands now - I've been reminding her for the last 17 years :)

It was 14 for gigs where alcohol wasn't on sale and 16 for gigs where alcohol was on sale (unless I was with my older sister, in which case I could go to gigs with alcohol - she was on holiday in Spain the time The Smiths played). The Smiths was in a no-alcohol venue. I think I'll have "Ciara Farrell never saw The Smiths" on my gravestone

dammit.. no one even knows the libs here in aussie...
Anyways, they did come here in July, but I wasn't there.. *pouts*

Andriana: ohhhh please?? piccies?? wants!! =D thankies! lol. i'm so incoherent these days.

Yes, indeed! And I'm reliably informed that Pete is (mostly) coherent enough these days to put on a decent show. Though that could change between now and next month *g* As long as they're not pissy about cameras at the venue, and I don't think they are, I will take scads of pics.

Am bummed beyond measure that I may never yet see The Libs, given that Carl has no plans for gigs past December when he's having his mystery operation. A bunch of LJers were at their show in Paris on Saturday and are still to incoherent to post properly it was so good. And the photos OMG! Check out crazybutsound's Journal. They're big files, though, so take ages to download if you're on dialup.

yeah... I read on NME that the drummer chick from Babyshambles said that the crack's all gone now.. But there's the occassional heroin still.. But apparently he's getting better.
Where do you live btw??
But AHHHH this SUCKS! I've been looking around for the Babyshambles CD in Aussie (ok, so it's VERY new... but still) and NONE of them knew who the hell they are!! (one direct quote: "what? BABY SHAMPOO??"). And i'm not talking about random people here. I'm talking about indie record stores!!

But yes. Pics are good.. pics.. more pics XD I'll be expecting pics from you LOL
Now.. I wonder what the operation is.. Me and my friends have made bets on whether it's a sex change or a baby.
Anyways, can i add you to my flist??
*goes off to look at Libs in Paris pics* oh my modem is going to hate me. I want my ADSL BACK!!!

I really hope he is getting better. That NME interview was interesting. Drummer chick seemed very sweet but maybe a bit naive. No crack only heroin - only heroin?? Well, that's alright then. Growing up as I did in a city with a massive heroin problem, I'm suprised by how casually the Pete camp seems to regard it, like anything that's not crack doesn't matter. The impression you get from them is that Carl's being a wanker at this stage because it's "only" heroin. They all seem to act like "poor" Pete is made of spun glass and needs to be babied when in fact a good kick up the arse would do him a lot more good. Have you read the new article in Rolling Stone? Everyone's position is still very entrenched.

You can get assorted Babyshambles and Libs stuff on DL offa Limewire. It's a pain in the arse if you're on dailup, but might be worth a look if you're stuck. I never worry about DL'ing Babyshambles stuff and depriving Pete of money. I'm saving him from himself *g*

"Now.. I wonder what the operation is.. Me and my friends have made bets on whether it's a sex change or a baby."

BWAH! So long as he doesn't ruin his girlish figure.

Friend away, you're more than welcome.
